What are the countries where it's usually very difficult for you to become a citizen? Some of them might make it so difficult that you need to change your religion before it's possible to be granted citizenship. I've heard that something like that happens in Japan, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Yes, you're correct, some countries have strict requirements for obtaining citizenship, where as in some cases, religion can be a factor. Japan has historically been known for its strict citizenship requirements. Countries like Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia are known for their sponsorship systems, which heavily regulate residency and citizenship. While religion isn't typically a requirement for citizenship, being a Muslim can facilitate the naturalization process in these countries.
