If you are interested in obtaining a license for the upcoming Goliath grouper season, which runs from March 1 to May 31, there is an important update you should be aware of. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has initiated a new application process for permits, and the application period extends until October 15. The permit application carries a fee of $10, along with additional charges. Following the submission of all applications, a random-draw lottery will be conducted to allocate a total of 200 permits.

Should you be fortunate enough to secure a permit through the lottery, the cost will be $150 for residents and $500 for non-residents.
