What is your building permit turn-around time?

Our building permit turn-around time depends on the project classification. Over the Counter (OTC) Plan Checks are done within the same day, usually 30 mins to 1.5 hrs delegated per OTC Plan Check. Expanded Counter Plan Checks (ECPC) are typically 1.5-2 weeks. Regular Plan Checks are about 3-5 weeks, depending on the department load at the time of submittal. Express permits are typically done within 20 minutes, unless there are certain procedures the project requires such as obtaining clearances from other departments.
 
Residential Building Permits are typically ready within a week if everything is handed in at the beginning of the process when the Health Permits are ready. Trade Permits can be ready within a day or two if forms are complete or even issued at the counter if they come in person and we're not too busy to stop and do it for them. Otherwise they are emailed to them in a day or two. Commercial Building Permits require more and so are usually about 2 weeks or sometimes more, depending on what is needed or how detailed they are. We're a small county so not typically getting many of these.
 
Our turnaround time is typically 2-3 weeks as well. And it also depends on the type of project. New commercial buildings tend to have an extensive turnaround time.
 
We can get plans reviewed and permits issued in just a couple of days but just in case I always tell everyone that planning review can take up to 2 weeks.
