Hi! My name is Emily, I work for a small town in WA. I am an ICC Certified Permit Technician, though my official job title is "DCD Specialist". I wear many hats in my role. I am currently working toward being an ICC Certified Code Specialist, Residential Building Inspector, and Plans Examiner. Eventually I would like to be a Building Official.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all! :) Happy to be here!

Hi Emily! It's nice having a fellow government bureaucrat on here :). I work in permitting but for the federal government (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory). If you ever have any questions about federal environmental permitting or are curious about careers with the federal government in general, I'm happy to help.

I'd be interested in hearing more about ICC Certification, if you have any insight you can share? I used to be more ambitious about professional certifications and am currently a certified Professional Wetland Scientist, though I honestly don't feel like I really need it anymore and think I'm just going to let it lapse.

It's great you're taking your professional development seriously. You sound right on track for that Building Official position :).
