Does your jurisdiction require the applicant to request Certificate of Occupancy/Letter of Completion or do they automatically send them out once final inspections are passed?

Location
Aspen, Colorado, United States
We receive a report each morning of all the final inspected projects from the prior day and then issue the C of O or Completion notice. It is then emailed to the applicant and uploaded to the electronic portal. The email sent to the applicant makes them aware they need to forward to the client, lender, real estate company, etc. This saves many phone calls and emails from third parties requesting this information. The copy uploaded to our electronic portal is handy when we receive public records requests for that information.

We have a customer that uses our software where they have setup an inspection called Issue COO that they add to any permit that will need one issued. When the inspector completes that inspection item, the system will generate the COO document with an included signature and attaches it to the permit where the customer can download and print from our Citizens Connect public portal.

We could even send out a notification to the contacts on the permit that the COO is ready and available.

I like this kind of efficiency.

We generate them manually and attach them with the other permit documents.

We will issue the Certificate of Occupancy only after all requirements have been satisfied. For example, they may have passed their final building inspections, but have yet to submit a blower door test.
