I'm going to make a note of that one! At the Corps, we have a standard (non-binding) 60-day review timeline for our most common permit type (Nationwide Permits). But that 60-day clock applies equally across very simple and very complex project types. As a result, permits that could easily be completed in a day take longer than they should and more complicated projects essentially have no timeline because 60 days is always so unrealistic to begin with.

It would be interesting to separate out "express lane" and "complex lane" permit applications, like Tucson has done, and set more appropriate timelines for ourselves based on project type.
