Thinking of selling stuff on the streets of New York City? It's legal, but there are rules you need to know. First things first, you've got to get the right permits and licenses from the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). There are two main types of permits: one for selling non-food items, and another for selling food. The general vending permit, covering non-food items, costs $200 for two years, while the food vending permit is $75 for one year. Just remember, there are rules about where you can sell and what you cannot sell. For instance, it is still illegal to sell fake or illegal stuff. If you want all the nitty-gritty details about street vending in NYC, you can find them here

I heard there's a lot of vendors in New York. So this makes sense to me. And the costs of the permits arent that bad. If you're a food vendor or sell products, I'm sure you could afford the permits.

I also imagine you can make a lot of money being a street vendor these days.
