I feel like because I am in such a small city, I don't know when something pertaining to a new law regarding permitting or building gets passed. I don't have a building official in house to update me on these things. Any tips or ideas of a way to keep up to date with the new updates for procedures that involve my role??

Location
Polk County, Florida, United States
Hey Karah! If your jurisdiction will allow, become a ICC member and you will receive emails about SB/HB updates, code updates, trainings and so much more. There were several bills passed and went into effect July 1st which will affect permitting timelines.

Thank you Shelby! I will look into that! I did just find out about the July 1st bills. It was kind of intimidating knowing what all passed and I had no idea!

Absolutely! You can also join BOAF.net (Building Officials Association of Florida) for information and trainings as well. The hardest part is staying up to date with changes. Can I ask which jurisdiction you are in?

Yes, I have joined BOAF, I just need to remember to log in every day and keep up with the info for sure.
