Express Permits

From an email I recently received:

......... County Development Services recently created a new septic permit option meant to streamline the permit process and reduce processing times.

The new Express Permit option for the Environmental Unit is for Tank Only Repair (Septic).

The attachment explains how to apply for this new option.

Do you think this is a good idea? It sounds like they're taking one aspect of a typical permit and making a permit for that one aspect only. As opposed to a permit incorporating multiple aspects.

That also sounds like it's in a newly incorporated town. I think other jurisdictions have them in place because septic tanks do need repairs sometimes.

In this situation it makes perfect sense to streamline the process. Most of the major issues are found and fixed during the septic tank's initial installation, so there's no need to go through a detailed permit again. I wish more permits were set up this way!
