Hey all - we're Ilya and Nikita and we just launched HomeCat - a tool that lets you turn a video of your house into permit drawings, like a site plan, so you can get your permit faster.
We've been in construction for a bit, have done site plans for homeowners, and learned that permitting is really darn complicated. We really believed there should be something that makes it easier to get drawings for permits, so we made it our mission to build something that makes home projects fun.
How does it work? You take a video of the house, walk around the property line, and our machine learning model extracts details like garages, windows, decks, sheds, and other existing structures. We review this, add your measurements and setbacks, make sure it follows the building code, and give you a permit-ready site plan. Our usual turnaround time is 24 hours for a site plan.
We see this as a first, but very important, step to something bigger. In the future, we imagine a tool that empowers you plan, design, and bring your home projects to life without any of the headache.
