Several states, including Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Kansas, are making changes to hunting rules, especially for turkey hunting, because of decreasing turkey numbers. Missouri has cut its fall turkey season limit in half, while Nebraska and Oklahoma have decreased permits and delayed their seasons. Kansas has gone further by introducing a draw system for nonresidents, canceling its fall turkey season, and setting a one-bird limit for residents. Likewise, Texas now requires hunters to report their turkey harvests. These measures highlight the efforts to manage turkey populations in various states.
