We are rolling out more permits that will forego the permit review process, but cannot be called an "over the counter" permit, as it will still need to be reviewed for completeness by a permit tech and the applicant will need to submit a specific affidavit outlining rules and expectations of the permit. It will be way faster than a standard permit, shooting for 1-2 weeks. We already have mini, minor, and major as permit categories. We don't really want it to be "micro" or "tiny" and we can't have it be "simple". Looking for ideas. What have other jurisdictions have named theirs?

I think I know what you mean. I've seen them called automated permits and robo permits. Other options are quick permits and immediate permits. Will any of those work for you?

We decided to go with Affidavit permits, thanks for your ideas though!

Our Deputy Building Official would like to one day have something called "Walk-in Wednesday".... Walk-In Permit.

I really like the ambition there. I've heard of some jurisdictions setting up same-day permit desks in the aftermath of natural disasters, to help people expedite permitting when there are lots of emergency repairs. But I think having a dedicated day for same-day collaboration and permitting, especially for less complicated projects, certainly has merit too.
